Ecstatic welcome for presidential entourage in Basse
Écrit par SENETOILE NEWSThe presidential entourage Thursday evening arrived to an ecstatic welcome at the main entrance of the provincial town of Basse, Upper River Region (CRR), in what was seen as another befitting show of solidarity and support to the Gambian leader.
As usual, thousands of people, mostly women and youths, lined-up the main highway into the town to accord His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya Jammeh and entourage a rapturous welcome. The Gambian leader entered URR after successful engagements in the Central River Region where he spent four days of his 21-day nationwide tour.
The tour is meant to assess the level of agricultural production in the country's drive towards the attainment of rice self-sufficiency by 2016.
Dozens of motorcyclists escorted the presidential motorcade from the main entrance all the way to Basse Mansajang-Kunda where he is installed. The snail-pace procession was characterised by singing and dancing in praise of the Gambian leader for his numerous achievements.
It took the entourage almost an hour to reach Mansanjang Kunda, which under normal circumstance should not have been more than 10 minutes drive from the main entrance.
