6 Gambian youths to attend agric training in Benin

Six youths from the National Youth Council (NYC), National Youth Service Scheme (NYSS) and the Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) will be attending a one-month ECOWAS capacity building programme on Agro-business and food processing in Benin.

 

The six selected youths  are: Elody Mendy, Kumba Ceesay, Sheriff Jammeh, Alieu Mbye, Yankuba Dumbuya and Fatou John Jallow.

 

Speaking at their  orientation ceremony,  the deputy director of Youth and Sports Pa Suwareh Fye reminded the nominees of the daunting task a head of them, noting that seeking knowledge especially in a foreign country is never easy. He advised them to maintain discipline, work together  as a team and  focus more on their training.

 

The executive secretary of NYC Abubacarr Sisawo thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports and ECOWAS for the partnership. He disclosed that the first batch of youths who earlier  left for a four week training on air conditioning and  refrigeration in Burikina fasso have successfully completed their training  and  are due in the country today Friday.

 

Sisawo noted that all the youths who were nominated for the new programme have been accepted and urged them to brace up for what is expected of them during the course  of training.  

 

The executive director of NYSS who is  also  the deputy director of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Sutay Jawo thanked the Ministry and ECOWAS for the initiative, citing the importance of such trainings. He advised the selected youths to unite  and be supportive of each other.

 

The deputy director of YMCA Joseph Peacock, Enterprise Development officer, NEDI Mustapha Badjie and the Wrestling Desk officer at the National Sport Council Abdoulie Bojang  all expressed similar remarks.
