The Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, in exercise of section 82 of the 1997 Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia on Tuesday, the day of the Muslim feast of Tobaski, has pardon 16 prisoners who are to be released from custodial sentence with immediate effect, a press release from the Office of the President revealed.

 

The press release reads:

                   The general public is hereby informed that His Excellency The President of the Republic of The Gambia, Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya AJJ Jammeh, in exercise of the powers vested on him under section 82 of the 1997 Constitution has granted prerogative of mercy to the following persons who are to be released from custodial sentence with immediate effect.

 

Alfusainey Bah - Gambian, Abdourahman Njie - Gambian, Ansumana Camara - Gambian, Yerra Ceesay - Gambian, Basiru Coker - Gambian, Lamin Bojang – Gambian, Momodou Salieu Krubally – Guinea Conakry, Muhammed Tunkara – Gambian, Cherno Omar Sowe – Gambian, Ousman Cham – Gambian, Yankuba Makasuba – Gambian, Buba Cham – Gambian, Lamin Samura – Gambian, Foday Jabula – Gambian, Ebrima Ceesay – Gambian, Sirra Ceesay – Gambian.
