Leaving The Island Country For Banjul, Following Banjul's Severing Ties With Taipei! The former Gambian Ambassador in Taiwan Ebrima Jarju and his Embassy staff are expected to leave Taiwan tonight at 8 PM for Banjul after the severing of diplomatic ties between the Gambia and Taiwan, the Freedom Newspaper can report. The Gambia was maintaining a fully functional Embassy in Taipei, until the recent move by Banjul to terminate diplomatic ties with Taiwan.
The Ambassador and his staff are leaving Taiwan with a heavy heart. Gambia's erratic and delusional President Yahya Jammeh terminated Gambia's ties with Taiwan without informing Ambassador Jarju. Jarju told the Taiwanese press that the decision for the Gambia to sever ties with Taiwan was a news to him adding that no one in Banjul has consulted him.
The Taipei government under the leadership of President Ma also made similar reaction on the wake of Banjul move to end relationship with them. The Taiwanese said they were caught off guard. There was no indication to suggest that Jammeh was going to ditch them into the dumpster and scout for new allies somewhere in Mainland China.
The last time we checked, Taiwan's Foreign Ministry said it was considering reprimanding its Embassy staffers stationed in Banjul for failing to file anticipatory intelligence on the possibilities of Jammeh severing ties with the Island country. But the Embassy staffers said there was nothing to report prior to Gambia's move to breakup ties with them.
It was later gathered that the Jammeh decision might have been motivated by Jammeh's failure to secure a $10 Million cash request that he has made to President Ma this past January, which was turned down by the Taipei government--citing ethical diplomatic practice as a reason for the refusal to entertain Jammeh's request. Taiwan never knew at the time that the Kanilai jester was mad at them, until last week when Jammeh abruptly announces his decision to part company with them.
