Fatou Saine, from the Inverclyde area, is believed to have been stabbed in the McColl's store in St Enoch Square at about 1155 BST on Tuesday.
A man, believed to be in his 40s, was also injured. Ms Saine is understood to have worked in the store and may have known the injured man.
Strathclyde Police said they were treating her death as murder.

Staff described his condition as serious but stable.
Double 'stabbing'
Another member of staff, along with several shoppers, were in the store at the time of the disturbance but they were not injured and did not require hospital treatment.
Detectives appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
Staff in nearby shops spoke of their shock and said they had heard the woman had been stabbed by a man who then stabbed himself.
Passers-by said they had seen a man covered in blood being brought out from the shop on a stretcher.
A McColl's spokesman said: "We are aware of the incident. Police are carrying out investigations and we are co-operating fully."
A mobile police office was set up in the square.
