President Jammeh holds talks with Ballore Group CEO
The Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh on Thursday afternoon held talks with the chief executive officer of Ballore Africa Logistics Group.
CEO Dominique Lafont was accompanied to Banjul by top officials of the Group, in an attempt to explore the country’s investment opportunities. The Group is particularly interested in exploring investments in the area of ports, amongst others.

The president of the Republic has praised the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the latter’s support to The Gambia`s justice dispensation system, saying Africa’s most populous nation has given the “highest number of legal luminaries to The Gambia from 1994 to date”.
Speaking Tuesday while presiding over the swearing-in ceremony of the new Nigerian-born Supreme Court judge and the new Foreign Affairs minister of The Gambia, Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen and Dr. Abubacarr Senghore, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya Jammeh also recognised the support of other allies in the region.
Gambia - Opposition leaders react to Govt. statement on US, Britain, others
Opposition parties in The Gambia have for the first time jointly reacted to a recent government statement that accused Britain and the United States of America of leading a “shameless campaign of lying” against it, and labeled the United Democratic Party (UDP) as a Mandingo group.
In a joint statement signed by Ousainou Darboe of the UDP, Hamat Bah of the NRP, Omar Jallow alias OJ of the PPP and Daniel Mendy of the GMC, leaders of the opposition said the statement in their opinion was ill-considered, uncalled for, worrisome and divisive in a country where tribal and religious tolerance is the envy of the world.

I was informed that the opposition leaders met last Monday and decided that they will brace up together to protest march, sit in, and fight any future arrest of any member of any party. Three opposition officials from different parties were present at the meeting. I will do further investigations to ascertain the above meeting which took place last Monday.
Gambia - Sedia Bayo Arrested in Dakar and then released!
Sedia Bayo said he was arrested in Dakar for four hours and later released. His arrest came in the wake of a major conference to be held in Senegal today to be attended by Yahya Jammeh. His visit coincides with Jammeh's trip. In fact he said he met with Jammeh's Finance minister and some Cabinet members of the Macky Sall government.
Gambia - ‘NARI'S TURNOVER JUMPED TO D16M IN 2012’
The turnover for the National Agricultural Research Institute (NARI) jumped to D16, 058, 556 in 2012 compared to 2011, when it stood at D13, 544, 667, its finance director has disclosed.
Speaking Wednesday while presenting NARI’s annual financial statements before members of the Joint Session of Public Accounts and Public Enterprises Committees (PAC/PEC) of the National Assembly, Assan Mboge also revealed that the Institute’s total expenditure was D18, 616, 162 in 2012 compared to D17, 133, 481 in 2011. The deficit/surplus, he indicated, was D2, 557, 606 in 2012 compared to D3, 588, 804 in 2011.
Gambia - 16 prisoners get presidential pardon
The Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, in exercise of section 82 of the 1997 Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia on Tuesday, the day of the Muslim feast of Tobaski, has pardon 16 prisoners who are to be released from custodial sentence with immediate effect, a press release from the Office of the President revealed.
The press release reads:
The general public is hereby informed that His Excellency The President of the Republic of The Gambia, Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya AJJ Jammeh, in exercise of the powers vested on him under section 82 of the 1997 Constitution has granted prerogative of mercy to the following persons who are to be released from custodial sentence with immediate effect.
